Helen Tabor

B. 1960

Helen Tabor was born in Middlesex and educated at the University of York graduating in English and History. She then took a Post Graduate degree and taught English, Drama and Art at Boroughbridge School, N Yorks.

She then travelled for a number of years, teaching at Paro High School in Bhutan in Asia.

She returned to the UK and set up home in the borders where she has lived for over twenty years, and from where she launched her artistic career as a professional painter.

Helen has exhibited widely throughout the UK and has become established with an ever-increasing collector base. Self-taught, she draws her inspiration from studying Chagall and Picasso, and in terms of subject, from the soft land and seascapes from the South West of Scotland.

Her still life compositions verge on the abstract and are often constructed to be deliberately vague, inviting interpretation and wonder. Her use of colour is subtle with shades and hues employed in a distinctive fashion.

Helen’s work has been accepted for exhibition by the RSA and is included in numerous collections both in the UK and abroad.
