Glen was born in Glasgow in 1950 and studied at Glasgow School of Art 1968 – 73. He won a Post Graduate Study Award and the W.O. Hutchison Prize for drawing before taking a travelling scholarship to Greece.

Over the years he has exhibited widely throughout the UK and abroad and has held numerous solo shows both in Scotland and in London.

His passion is for colour and light with a strong bold approach to his subject matter, which includes landscape, still life and the human figure. His work is based on direct observation from nature, painting mostly en plein air and developing larger works in the studio.

Elected a member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours (RSW) in 1997 and the Royal Glasgow Institute (RGI) in 1989 he has also won many awards for his work in both oil and watercolour and is included in numerous corporate and public collections worldwide including The South African Government, The Scottish Government, De Beers and The Royal Bank of Scotland.
