Ewan McClure - B. 1975

Ewan studied art at Grays School of Art in Aberdeen where he gained a BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art.

In 1997 he was awarded the John Kinross Travelling Scholarship which took him to Florence. He received the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant (Montreal) in 1997, 1998 and 2000. He won the James Torrance memorial Award at the RGI in 2008 and the Glasgow Art Club Fellowship award in the same year.

Following his appearances as a finalist on Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year 2013, where he painted Michael Kerr, Sophie Dahl and AP McCoy, his rapidly executed, realist portraiture has been in steady demand both in the UK and abroad. He was selected as a finalist in the BP Portrait award 2013, and in 2015 was shortlisted for the prestigious Conversations Prize for a multi-figure painting at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. His work hangs in private and public collections including The Robert Fleming collection, Princeton Theological Seminary, Edinburgh University, and The Royal Scottish Academy.
