Christopher Wood was born in Leeds in 1962 and studied at Edinburgh College of Art between 1980 – 84, graduating with an Honours degree in Drawing and Painting.

He has been a professional artist since his successful first one-man show in Edinburgh in 1987.

Christopher has been an active member of Scotland’s art establishment over many years and held a number of prestigious appointments on a number of arts bodies. His CV includes the following distinctions:

President of the Society of Scottish Artists (SSA) 2009 – present
Vice President of the SSA 2006 – 2009

He has been the recipient of a number of awards for his work including:

Christopher’s work is hung in a number of important collections including The Bank of Scotland; Edinburgh University; The Demarco European Foundation; MacRoberts Solicitors; Premier Property Group and many others both in the UK and abroad.

We believe Christopher Wood is currently one of Scotland’s finest abstract artists with a range and dimension to his work that is outstanding. Whether in collages involving materials and textures, or in oils or acrylic in a variety of scales and tones, he intrigues and engages the viewer in a process of interpretation and analysis which engenders a real fascination with the work.
